Inverter installs

Pure sine wave inverters and inverter-chargers installed safely, so you can run domestic appliances at the mooring without worrying about wiring or fire risk.

Overview

Inverters are easy to buy and easy to fit badly.

An inverter draws huge currents on the DC side. A 2kW inverter pulls over 200 amps from a 12V bank when it is loaded. That is more current than a starter motor sees, and it has to be supplied through cables, fuses, and lugs that are sized for it. Get any of that wrong and you have a real fire risk.

We size inverters to your actual loads, pick pure sine wave for anything sensitive, and wire them in to current standards. Cable runs are kept short, fuses are at source, AC outputs are properly distributed, and the system is interlocked so shore and inverter cannot fight each other.

Inverter-chargers go further, replacing both your charger and inverter with a single unit and adding shore-power management. Where it is the right call, that is what gets specified.

What's included

What an inverter install includes.

  • Load list and sizing: continuous load, peak load, and surge
  • Pure sine wave or modified sine wave selection based on what you run
  • Battery bank suitability check: capacity, chemistry, and condition
  • DC side: cable gauge, MEGA or class T fuse at source, lug crimping
  • AC side: dedicated distribution, RCBO protection, neutral bonding handled correctly
  • Shore and inverter interlock so the two cannot be live at the same time
  • Remote panel sited where you can read it
  • Commissioning under load and a written summary

Process

How an inverter install runs.

  1. Load review

What you want to run, and at what capacity. This drives the inverter spec.

  2. Spec and quote

Inverter or inverter-charger, with reasoning. Quote covers the unit, cabling, fusing, and AC distribution.

  3. Install

Mounted near the bank, ventilated, accessible. Cable runs kept short, terminations protected.

  4. Commission

Tested under real loads, settings tuned, and a brief on safe use.
